I don't hate Americans - I love the people/culture, dislike the government, as I'm sure many do. Altho I have noticed a lot of Brits do hate or at least act very snobbish about Americans. And it is annoying how much Britain exports from America, we basically just have American Culture Lite rather than anything of our own.

Where did you think the essay went astray/where I started being apologetic exactly?
